Nicole Ballestrin on the cover of CPA Canada’s PIVOT magazine

In the March/April 2024 issue of Pivot magazine, Nicole Ballestrin, CPA, CA, shared her path from corporate finance to founding Aspire CFO, a Fractional CFO firm dedicated to delivering part-time CFO services to small and medium-sized businesses.

After building her career at Nortel, EY, and McKinsey & Company, she left the corporate world to establish Aspire CFO, providing growing enterprises access to strategic financial leadership through flexible fractional CFOs and outsourced CFO services.

Aspire CFO now provides the expertise of a full finance department, including CFOs, VP Finance, Controllers, and Bookkeepers, on a scalable basis, helping businesses strengthen their financial reporting capabilities, improve cash flow, and make confident growth decisions without the expense of hiring a full-time Chief Financial Officer.

In the feature, Nicole reflected on the challenges small businesses often face:

"Small businesses can get very complicated very fast," says Ballestrin. "And sometimes they take too long to bring in help, precisely because in-house expertise is seen as so expensive. And so, I often come in when there's a significant amount of cleanup to do."

The article underscores why fractional CFO services are becoming an essential solution for business owners: they provide the high-level financial guidance companies need, exactly when they need it at a fraction of the traditional cost.
